Welcome to Digital KPM (accessible via our official web portal komarapalayam.in and the Digital KPM Android mobile application). This platform is architected and maintained by Manis, situated in Komarapalayam, Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu, India.
Digital KPM is built as a neutral community directory, student utility, and civic bridge connecting the residents of Komarapalayam with local shops, evening food carts, verified auto drivers, town runners, college accommodations (around Excel, SSM, and JKK Nattraja campuses), and civic emergency contacts. It also offers KPM Instant, an optional service to order from participating shops with local delivery.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, processed, and safeguarded in full compliance with the Google Play Console Developer Policies, the Indian Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
2. Data We Collect
We adhere strictly to the principle of data minimization. We only collect the minimal information necessary for user authentication and directory listings:
A. Registered Mobile Number & 4-Digit MPIN
Used exclusively for secure, passwordless authentication via Google Firebase Authentication. Your 4-digit MPIN is encrypted using cryptographic hashing and is never stored in plain text or accessible to platform developers.
B. Profile Name (Provided Voluntarily)
Users may voluntarily provide a display name to personalize their profile or identify themselves when submitting a town listing or campus post.
C. Business or Accommodation Details (Voluntary Submissions)
When local shop owners, auto drivers, or student PG landlords submit a listing, they voluntarily provide contact numbers, landmark locations, and optional photos for public display in the directory.
D. KPM Instant Orders (Only If You Use Them)
Customers: name, mobile number, delivery address, landmark, delivery location (GPS), items ordered, amounts, order status and timestamps. Shops: shop GPS location, packing time and UPI ID. Delivery partners: duty status, approximate location when going on duty, deliveries completed and platform fees due.
E. Anonymous Device Diagnostics & Crash Indicators
We collect non-personal technical diagnostic signals (such as device model, OS version, and crash stacks via Google Firebase Crashlytics) to identify bugs and ensure smooth application performance.
3. Android Runtime Permissions Explained
In accordance with Google Play Developer Policy standards, here is the clear and explicit justification for each Android permission requested by the app:
CALL_PHONE / DialerUsed solely when you tap to directly call an auto driver at a stand, phone a local shop owner, or dial emergency helplines (108, Police, Fire). Calls are never initiated automatically.
CAMERA & STORAGEAccessed only when you choose to upload photos for your shop banner, food menu, student room accommodation, or campus marketplace item.
LOCATION (Optional)Precise GPS is used only while the app is open and only for KPM Instant: to check delivery distance and set your delivery point (customers), pin the shop (shop owners), and when going on duty (delivery partners). Approximate location may sort nearby listings. We never track location in the background. Denying it does not limit the directory.
4. Who Can See Your KPM Instant Order Details
- The shop you order from sees your name, phone number, items and (for delivery) your address.
- A delivery partner sees the shop and an approximate drop area before accepting. Your phone number and full address are shown only to the partner who accepts your order, and only while it is open.
- Your delivery OTP is visible only to you.
- A shop's location is visible to customers so they can order. The UPI ID to pay (the shop's, or Digital KPM's when we collect the payment) is shown with the order. When you tap "Pay by UPI", your own UPI app opens — Digital KPM never sees or stores bank or card details.
- Digital KPM administrators can view orders to resolve complaints and prevent fraud.
- Order and location data are never used for advertising or sold. Order records are kept to resolve disputes and meet legal obligations, and are deleted with your account on request (subject to records we must keep by law).
5. Zero Third-Party Advertising & Data Protection Guarantee
We never sell, trade, rent, or share user personal data with third-party advertisers or commercial brokers. Digital KPM is a community-first platform for the welfare of Komarapalayam.
6. Third-Party Cloud Infrastructure
To maintain high uptime, encryption-at-rest, and top-tier security standards, we utilize Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Google Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions for secure order processing, and Cloud Messaging for order and community notifications). All data transfers occur over encrypted SSL/TLS channels.
7. Account & Data Deletion Rights
All users hold the unconditional right to request complete, permanent erasure of their account, mobile credentials, MPIN, and submitted listings at any time.
